Thanks for Visiting!
Helen Lambert and her husband Porter own and live on the Historic Hall Farm located just north of the town of Franklin in Western North Carolina (Macon County). Her quaint teaching studio has been named “The Garden House”, a secluded spot on the farm surrounded by exquisite flower gardens, a pond and creek, accented by a spectacular view of the Cowee Mountains. It is not only Helen but also her students who consider the Garden House, a renovated Tractor Shed, their inspirational retreat.
Classes at the Garden House are held both Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Helen teaches her students sketching, together with both acrylic and oil painting. She tells her students, “one of the most helpful things I’ve learned over the years and where we need to begin, is to Really See.”
Seasonal hayrides through the fields and woods of Hall Farm to identify wildflowers and trees are a favorite activity of students. Annual art shows are the highlight of the year. This gives all students a chance to get together, have a fun day, and be proud of their work. Many people come to view the artists’ work and to enjoy an afternoon in the country
